SMG Total Services
System Checklist
As part of the SMG Total
Services commitment, each full service convention center should have
the following available at the facility:
1. Concierge
or Information Desk: with knowledgeable
staff and information on local hotels, attractions, restaurants,
etc.
2. Transportation
Coordinator: whether part of the Concierge
Desk or not, providing information and coordination of taxi, bus and
other likely transportation in each market.
3. In-Place
Technology: including a backbone of fiber
and high-speed connections for voice, video and data throughout the
venue. Internet and Networking capabilities should be available
throughout, as well as a Video-conferencing Suite, or portable
system.
4. Business
Center: providing basic services such as
copying, facsimile, internet station, small package shipping and
sale of office supplies.
5. Advertising
& Public Relations Support: including
camera ready artwork (logos, maps, etc.), photographs and video for
client use in promoting their events. Advertising, marquis and/or
kiosk signage to promote events and sponsors. Standardized press
release format, and local distribution support, as well as
coordination with key local officials for welcome remarks and
ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
6. Emergency
Preparedness Manual: provided to show
management with a discussion of responsibilities and actions in case
of the unexpected.
7. VIP
or Executive Boardroom: an upgraded room
for board and client meetings, usually with finer furnishings and
extra amenities.
A likely place for videoconference support.
8. Labor
Relations Coordinator: staying on top of
exhibitor rights and work rules and act as a liaison to avoid
unnecessary delays.
9. Exhibitor
Food Services: most notably, orders taken
from and delivered to exhibitors at their booths, as it is often
difficult for personnel to leave an exhibit to eat.
10. Web
Site Services: offering more and more
information on booking dates and exhibitor services through on-line
ordering. |
